My Love of Art -- began when I was about 5 years old, and the first "gallery" was the refrigerator! The first one to please with art was Dad when he came in from the fields.
Since that time, my love of nature became the major inspiration for my art, stimulating plein air painting of all kinds of landscapes. Colors, shapes, and light tempt a quick expression of what one sees. Also, I like to paint large canvasses in the studio.
Art Studies
After graduating from the University of Denver, I studied botanical illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens. This evolved into numerous watercolor workshops with at least seven well-known working artists, and eventually into oil painting. The Art Students League of Denver was as helpful as recent oil painting classes in the Evergreen area.
Juried Exhibitions
Since 2004, I have been juried into numerous exhibitions, including the Evergreen Artists Association, the Gilpin County Arts Association, Center for the Arts Evergreen, and Lakewood Arts Council. I have received awards throughout the years.
Each year I am a "Featured Artist of the Month" at Barnes & Noble Denver West, usually in September.
Here's my 2011 B & N Show, some of which you will see in my updated studio "Gallery", next page.
One of the groups in which I participate, the "Alliance Artists of Evergreen" will hang a number of shows in 2012, including Miners' Alley in Golden, Rotary Gallery in Evergreen, Creekside Cellars in Evergreen and others. Please e-mail for our schedule.
This is from our Alliance Francaise de Denver show in 2011.

For a Getaway -- I like to go to my casita in Sayulita, Mexico, a great diversion, a fun place to paint, and something you may wish to discover as a guest some day. Open www.sayulitalife.com, type in "Casa Ballena" and see photos and details.
